DIY Sunscreen

Do you ever wonder about the ingredients in the sunscreens you’re using or putting on your children?

I used to douse my older children in bottles of chemical laden sunscreen for fear of a sunburn or skin cancer. Then I started to hear differing opinions about how it might be the cause of some cancers, or at the very least bad for you. I started looking for alternatives that I could make from home and I would know exactly what was going on our skin.

I’ve tried several different DIY Sunscreen recipes over the years, and I’ve finally found one that I absolutely love and so far it’s turned out every time.

Jess Healey from Pronounce Skincare has generously shared her recipe for all to use and she even has some that you can purchase from her if you’d prefer.

The ingredients are fairly simple. You will need:

Coconut oil

A carrier oil such as almond or jojoba oil

Beeswax

Shea Butter

Zinc oxide

Vitamin E

A double boiler

Kitchen scale

Mask

Containers
